A panel of scientists with
expertise in toxicology, risk characterization, exposure assessment,
mechanisms of toxicity, and PBPK modeling met on February 22-23, 2007,
to conduct a peer consultation of a submission on ethylbenzene. The
American Chemistry Council Ethylbenzene Panel prepared the submission
for the Voluntary Children's Chemical Evaluation Program (VCCEP). The
purpose of the peer consultation meeting was to provide a science-based
forum to determine whether the existing data are adequate to
characterize the risks of ethylbenzene to children, and, if not, to
identify data needs. The meeting was open to the public, and
individuals who could not attend in person were encouraged to observe
the meeting via a real-time web cast using their personal computers.
Based upon discussions that occurred during this
peer consultation meeting, the sponsors have revised their submission
and submitted the revision to EPA. A link to the revised submission is
found below.
Revised Information (August 14, 2007)
The sponsors sent a revised ethylbenzene submission
to EPA in August 2007, based upon comments they received from panelists
at the peer consultation meeting of February 22-23, 2007. The revised
submission report and its appendices are provided below. The sponsors
made no revisions in Appendices A through O; they revised Appendix P;
and they omitted Appendices S and T. Also provided below is the
sponsors’ cover letter, which identifies the revisions that were made. Note that the sponsors’ revised submission was not
reviewed by the VCCEP ethylbenzene peer consultation panel.
